2026
NORTH EASTERN ZONE
CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

The NEZ Championship Series historically known as NEDSS is a group of events run across our zone with overall place getters in each discipline. The series has been running successfully for over 10 years within our zone. You must be a member of one of the 14 Pony Clubs in our NEZ to be eligible for a prize. We have designed and implemented the series to encourage our young members to compete, make new friends out and about and families to support our clubs by heading along to North Eastern Zone competitions.
In 2026 the series includes Dressage, ShowJumping, Showing and Horse Trials. In its early days it covered Dressage and ShowJumping however in recent years Showing and Horse Trials were added. The series also helps create some healthy competition between our riders and their clubs. It is lots of fun.
The NEZ uses the Championship Series to help select our amazing North Eastern Zone riders for our Pony Club Victorian State Championships each year. We also hold a Gala Night in February to give out awards and trophies to our winners and grinners. This is a fun night to dress up and support our kids that work so hard on their riding during the year.
The NEDSS Championship Series is a series that does not generate really any profit for the zone. Riders/clubs pay $3 per NEZ rider per competition they enter and this is then used for prizes and the Gala Night at the end of the series.

Good luck and get out there. Remember you need to compete in 51% of competitions in that discipline to be eligible. There is a column on our calendar that also shows which events are included in the series.

ABOUT
PONY
CLUB

What is Pony Club?
Pony Club is an international youth organization devoted to educating our young people about horses and riding. Each month thousands of self-run community Pony Clubs hold rallies, clinics, camps, and competitions giving members and their families the opportunity to meet and socialize in a fun, safe and inclusive environment. The Pony Club organization exists in over 30 countries worldwide. Our North Eastern Zone includes 14 active Pony Clubs and is well supported by Pony Club Victoria and Pony Club Australia.

Why so fun?
Learning horse mastership and to ride can be a challenging task at times and Pony Club is here to help make it an enjoyable and a safer journey. You can make like-minded friends, connect with other horsey families, instructors, and knowledgeable equine leaders in your community through our clubs. Our lessons are designed to engage our members across different equine disciplines while helping develop skills and having lots of fun. Parents and carers can relax and chat with other like-minded adults or help by volunteering.

Who can come?
Any children aged 3yo-25yo can join Pony Club. A new Ready2Ride Rookie program for our under 10yo riders is now available at some of our NEZ clubs. We also have adult memberships available at some of our clubs too. Pony Club is here to help families have fun, relax and to build equine friendships that last beyond the Pony Club grounds. Pony Clubs work best when we are inclusive of all, creating an open, welcoming and friendly environment for all our members and their families, no matter their circumstances, equine experience, backgrounds or cultural identity.
